Software Engineer (Embedded)

Pico Digital (an operating subsidiary of ATX Networks) is seeking developers with all levels of experience to join an existing team of 15 software engineers.  We are looking for engineers proficient with C++ and Linux who are effective implementer, enjoy working on innovative product development teams and aspire to become leaders in defining high-level features and over time guide junior engineers towards higher productivity and efficiency.   A successful candidate will be passionate about software design/development and will enjoy working in a dynamic and collaborative environment with engineers that enjoy solving really tough problems.

Position Summary:    Software life cycle development contributions in support of Pico’s embedded technology products.  Working independently and in teams on sprints towards release targets, Software Engineers will design, implement, test, analyze, debug and document product features consistent with product requirements and specifications.  This position will be exposed to product use-cases and often interact with customers to resolve field issues, provide training and suggest product improvements.

Success Requires:

  • Strong C++ programming skills & Linux proficiency
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and embedded Linux
  • Professional experience in a development role
  • Excellent abstract problem identification and definition skills
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently model solutions with technical fluency
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively towards defined deliverables
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Dedication to documentation and respect for established code review practices
  • Proficiency with software configuration management tools such as Git, SVN
  • Flexibility and desire to take on new tasks and contribute beyond regular job scope

Nice to have:

  • Linux kernel; device drivers
  • MPEG Transport Stream, DVB standards
  • Experience with Confluence/JIRA/BitBucket collaboration tools

 Typical Profile:

  • BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or related subject
  • 2 to 5 or more years of experience in an embedded software development environment
  • Home/hobby projects that reflect your desire to solve problems creatively
