Field Support Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Field Support Engineer will support pre and post sales activity by providing technical product support to internal and external customers. This position may work from one of our offices or remotely, depending on the candidates location and preference. 

In addition to the qualifications listed below we are seeking a flexible professional, capable of adapting to change, with strong communicaton skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering combined with five years of relevant experience within the CATV industry; or an equivalent combination of training and experience;
  • Applied working knowledge of RF (Radio Frequency), Optical or Digital Video systems, technologies and products, and their applications within the CATV, satellite, telco or IPTV networks;
  • Experience working directly with and presenting to customers both remotely and within customer environments; and
  • Working knowledge of IP networking and SNMP

The successful candidate will achieve the position mandate through the following duties:  

  • Maintain subject matter expertise with a variety of HFC networks and associated industry practices, procedures and activity;
  • Provide pre and post sales technical product support to external and internal customers remotely and in person in the customer environment;
  • Assist with pre-sale technical qualification and support for new opportunities, determine and recommend products and features that best fit the customer needs;
  • Prepare cost analysis, engineering proposals, and assist with generating bills of materials, customer proposals and quotes related to new projects;
  • Prepare and deliver technical product presentations on a national and international basis;
  • Support product management in the areas of; internal and external product training, testing and documentation in both the lab and field;
  • Maintain record of activity in SalesForce (CRM Software);
  • Represent ATX by attending relevant industry trade shows and participate at on-site customer meetings and demonstrations relevant to new and existing opportunities;
  • Assist with providing marketing and technical content for various literature formats;
  • Support design teams by contributing as primary technical support specialist in product design and configuration for routine and complex projects;
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain products in coordination with development teams;
  • Assist in establishing test parameters/scenarios and provide input on local applications specific to the product requirements; and
  • Other duties as assigned. 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Excellent organizational, time/project management, analytical and follow-up skills;
  • Superior English communication skills both oral and written, to present and exchange technical/complex information to audiences with varying technical abilities;
  • Fluency in French or Spanish would be an asset;
  • Advanced computer skills including; Microsoft Visio, Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook;
  • Experience with SalesForce CRM or another CRM software would be an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills capable of working in a team locally and remotely and interacting with all levels of associates both internal and external to the organization; and
  • Flexibility to work hours outside of the standard work week. 

START DATE:         ASAP 

TRAVEL:  This position will require frequent travel within the North America (2-4 trips per month) and occasional international travel (4 trips per year). These are estimates and subject to change.
