Senior Engineering Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering the Senior Program Manager will work with the ATX product development teams to develop and implement detailed project schedules/plans to ensure timelines, quality objectives and budgets are met from the project approval signoff stage to product release. 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS OF OUR FUTURE TEAM MEMBER INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or College diploma/certificate in Project Management or equivalent;
  • Professional Project Manager (PMP) Certification is preferred;
  • A minimum of ten years engineering and project management experience in electronics hardware development and/or electronics manufacturing; and
  • Experience building project schedules using software tools such as Microsoft Project; 

 The successful candidate will achieve the above mandate through the following duties: 

  • Daily project monitoring and management (i.e. tracking of tasks, milestones and risks);
  • Prepare and distribute weekly and ad hoc project update reports, meeting minutes and summaries;
  • Maintain project status updates for Executive Management and Product Managers;
  • Identify and create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning;
  • Drive continuous improvement in ATX’s project management processes that will result in better visibility and more predictable R&D product development schedules;
  • Manage external supplier relationships through the Project Management team including technical audits, quality management, capability or location assessments, new process/supplier qualifications;
  • Lead, manage, and mentor one direct report;
  • Work closely with Operations group to support and ensure efficient, timely and accurate information exchange during product releases, integration to production and engineering change notices, etc;
  • Support Engineering management and the Director of Operations on other related projects and tasks as required;
  • Support the R&D team’s continuous improvement initiatives and KPI monitoring for product development activities;
  • Ensuring Company ISO procedures are followed during product development;
  • Capture information necessary for filing Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) applications;
  • Performs all tasks in accordance with established Safe Work Practices and Standard Operating Procedures, ISO requirements; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knoweldge of electronics manufacturing or design service suppliers, experience with China would be preferred;
  • Excellent organizational, time management and planning skills to plan and prioritize a number of complex activities impacting other activities or projects in the organization;
  • Ability to motivate and lead teams without having direct authority;
  • Superior communication skills both oral and written to exchange complex and sensitive information internally and externally;
  • Goal-oriented approach and the ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, to work with internal and external associates;
  • Thrives in a team environment with high level of interaction with colleagues;
  • Working knowledge of electromechanical design, components and system design in particular as it applies to the Cable/Telco industry is an asset;
  • Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred;
  • Strong problem solving skills, ability to apply judgement within set limitations to resolve problems that may impact project deadlines, services and production; and
  • Proficient with various computer programs including; Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and Outlook and internet applications.
